Not so much a concert, more an "event". BCMS and the Pavão String Quartet move to Arts University Bournemouth for a late Saturday afternoon concert, preceded by a talk and an informal reception. At 4pm Dr Anna Beer, the distinguished researcher and author of the recent acclaimed book “Sounds and Sweet Airs: the forgotten women of classical music”, leads a discussion on women composers. This will be followed by refreshments. At 5.30pm, the Pavão Quartet’s concert begins with the highly individual "The Audience" for string quartet and narrator, by British composer Roxanna Panufnik. It comprises settings of Wendy Cope's witty and sharply observed poems about people who attend concerts. The other piece is one of the mainstays of the string quartet repertoire, the Ravel quartet. Roxanna Panufnik "The Audience" (with narrator Anne-Marie Minhall) Ravel Quartet in F, M.35 This event is NOT included in the BCMS Season Ticket price Please note: This event is taking place at Arts University, Bournemouth Tickets: £10 for the combined talk and concert All seats are unallocated.
