Sandy Wilson’s lavish, romantic musical is set around the premise that every young lady needs a boyfriend! The problem is that poor Polly Browne is stuck inside Mme Dubonnet’s finishing school for debutantes in Nice, where decorum demands that boyfriends are forbidden for being socially undesirable fortune hunters. Pretending to be an ordinary secretary, Polly persuades a menial messenger boy to be her beau at the carnival ball. All is not as it seems though, in this light hearted comedy that is one of the most successful and tuneful musicals about the 1920s.
