Juke Box Legends
John Leyton, Craig Douglas, Mike Berry & The Flames7th November 2010
If you can remember spinning all those 45s on a giant Art Deco Wurlitzer at your local Milk Bar, this show is for you! John Leyton used his Hollywood good looks to great effect in classic films like Von Ryan’s Express and The Great Escape, but not before he had topped the charts with hits like Johnny Remember Me, Wild Wind and Son This is She for the legendary pop impresario, Joe Meek. Craig Douglas scored seven Top Ten singles in the 1960s and was voted Best New Singer in 1959 by NME. His hits included the No 1, Only Sixteen, Pretty Blue Eyes, Heart of a Teenage Girl, A Hundred Pounds of Clay, Time, When My Little Girl is Smiling and A Lonesome Me. Born in Newport on the Isle of Wight, he became a local hero when he appeared on TV’s Six-Five Special with Cliff Richard and Joe Brown. Mike Berry is another of Joe Meek’s stars scoring chart success with Tribute to Buddy Holly and The Sunshine of Your Smile. His TV CV includes Mr Peters in Worzel Gummidge and Mr Spooner in Are You Being Served. A true all round entertainer.
