Many will remember Theatre 2000’s super live production of this Tony winning Broadway musical at the Regent in 2007. Now Chicago’s Rob Marshall directs a star filled film version which is bound to be an Oscar contender. The stellar cast includes Judi Dench, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Daniel Day Lewis, Marion Cotillard and Sophia Loren. Based on Fellini’s 1964 Oscar winner, 8 ½, this witty and glamorous masterpiece tells the story of a famous director struggling with the plot of his new film whilst being pursued by a horde of beautiful women, including his wife (Cotillard), his mistress (Cruz), his leading lady (Kidman) and his mother (Loren). A ravishing cast and passionate score add up to a flirtatious fantasy! The seductive script is by the late, Isle of Wight born Anthony Minghella, and could yet win him a posthumous Oscar to add to his award for The English Patient.
