This highly engaging film takes us on a journey through the life of one of the most prevalent female icons: Frida Kahlo. She was a prolific self-portraitist, using the canvas as a mirror through all stages of her turbulent and, at times, tragic life. Guided with interview, commentary and Frida’s own words, EXHIBITION ON SCREEN uncovers that this, however, was not a life defined by tragedy. Featuring key exhibitions and interviews with world-renowned Kahlo curators, EXHIBITION ON SCREEN explores the extraordinary symbolism and themes in these personal canvases to seek a deeper understanding of the real Frida Kahlo. Using cinema to take an up-close and intimate look at her works we examine how great an artist she can be considered. Displaying a treasure trove of colour and a feast of vibrancy on screen, this personal and intimate film offers privileged access to her works and highlights the source of her feverish creativity, her resilience and her unmatched lust for life, men, women, politics and her cultural heritage. We might think we already know Frida Kahlo – the image of floral crowns, big brows and folk style clothing have made her a muse to generations – but what lies beneath the surface of this intensely passionate woman? Dirt In The Gate Movies Presents - MONTY PYTHON'S LIFE OF BRIAN (1979) - [35mm Presentation] Celebrating 43 years since its original release, in glorious 35mm, Monty Python delivers a scathing, anarchic satire of both religion and Hollywood's depiction of all things biblical with their 1979 feature film Life of Brian. Highly controversial upon its original release and banned in several countries, the film is now frequently ranked as the greatest comedy feature of all time by magazines and media outlets around the world. As Monty Python member Terry Gilliam says, "It rips bare and makes you laugh at the world we’ve created for ourselves." Set in 33 A.D. Judea, where exasperated Romans are trying to impose some order, it is a time of chaos and change with no shortage of messiahs and followers willing to believe in them. At its centre is Brian Cohen, a reluctant would-be messiah who rises to prominence as a result of a series of absurd circumstances providing ample opportunity for the entire Monty Python ensemble (Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin) to shine in multiple roles as they question everyone and everything from ex-lepers, Pontius Pilate and the art of haggling, to revolutionaries, crazy prophets, religious fanaticism, Roman centurions and crucifixion. Dirt In The Gate Movies are delighted to be able to bring this screening to The Regent from a beautiful 35mm print. Expect surprises and celluloid fun during our supporting programme! An evening with Jack Pack (with support from The Swingettes) Join BGT finalists, the Kings of Swing 'Jack Pack' as they bring their legendary vocal harmonies and swagger to the Regent Centre stage for a special fundraising concert in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity. Delivering a show packed full of swing standards by Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin and Nat King Cole to the more modern music of Michael Buble and accompanied by their fantastic live band - this is a show you won't want to miss! Since bursting onto the scene on Britain's Got Talent in 2014, Jack Pack have cemented their place as the UK’s most successful swing group. Following the release of their self-titled Top 10 hit album, the group have performed a sell out UK tour, entertained over 50,000 at Proms in the Park and performed at the Royal Albert Hall, London Palladium and Birmingham Symphony Hall. Celebrated and enjoyed internationally, they continue to tour across the globe. "A truly outstanding performance" HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales '70 before Seventy' for The Brain Tumour Charity Established only 18 months ago, this campaign was created in memory of Julie Fisher by her family. Julie started fundraising for The Brain Tumour Charity when she was given her own diagnosis and managed to raise a staggering £25,000 before her untimely death in 2015. Fulfilling a promise to Julie, the family have continued her work and had managed to increase her total to £60,000 when they decided to go a step further. '70 before Seventy' was set up with the aim to reach a fundraising target of £70,000 before what would have been Julie's 70th birthday on March 26th 2022. This concert is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the fundraising achievements for this fantastic charity who undertake such vital research and offer incredible support to so many. The Regent Centre also happens to be a very special venue to the family who spent many years watching Julie perform here on stage in her amateur dramatics productions with Footlights Theatre Company.

Dirt In The Gate Movies Presents - THE OMEN (1976) - [35mm Presentation] "Scarier than The Exorcist...." - Anna Baddeley, The Telegraph Robert Thorn (Gregory Peck), an American diplomat living in Rome, learns that his infant son died moments after birth. Rather than tell his wife Katherine (Lee Remick) the truth, which he fears would shatter her emotionally, Robert secretly arranges the adoption of another baby, Damien, through the Catholic church. Years pass with the Thorns living a seemingly idyllic life until during Damien's fifth birthday the boy's nanny suddenly commits suicide and it becomes evident that the fate of the world may hang in the clutches of a sinister child. When director Richard Donner passed away in July 2021 he left behind a legacy of legendary blockbusters, including Superman, The Goonies and the Lethal Weapon series. However, nothing in his filmography can match the lasting power of The Omen, an intelligent, taut masterpiece that influenced so many horror films that came after it. Following their highly acclaimed sell out show in 2019, The Manfreds are back! They are considered one of the finest and most respected bands from the ‘60’s era and their numerous hits were not just ‘pop’ songs. Many were R&B based with an undercurrent of jazz - a very unusual but winning combination of playing style and substance. The Manfreds, with original front man, Paul Jones, will be performing many of their hits, including ‘Do Wah Diddy Diddy’, one of the most popular and instantly recognisable songs of the ‘60’s, and still the biggest audience pleaser at their concerts, along with a mix of Jazz and Blues covers and tracks from their individual solo albums.

The story of Christ’s death and resurrection has dominated western culture for the past 2000 years. It is perhaps the most significant historical event of all time, as recounted by the gospels but, equally, as depicted by the greatest artists in history. From the triumphant to the savage, the ethereal to the tactile, some of western civilization’s greatest artworks focus on this pivotal moment. This beautifully crafted film explores the Easter story as depicted in art, from the time of the early Christians to the present day. Shot on location in Jerusalem, United States and throughout Europe, the film explores the different ways artists have depicted the Easter story through the ages and thus depicts the history of us all.

Without Camille Pissarro, there is no Impressionist movement. He is rightfully known as the father of Impressionism. It was a dramatic path that Pissarro followed, and throughout it all he wrote extensively to his family. It is through these intimate and revealing letters that this gripping film reveals Pissarro’s life and work. Born in the West Indies, Pissarro found his passion in paint as a young man in Paris, and by the age of 43 had corralled a group of enthusiastic artists into a new collective. Their first show was scorned by the critics, but the group had acquired a new name: the Impressionists. For the next 40 years Pissarro was the driving force behind what has today become the world’s favourite artistic movement. The Ashmolean Museum has a long tradition of excellence. As the UK’s first ever public museum (it opened its doors in May 1683) it houses a wonderfully rich collection, including the remarkable Pissarro archive. With exclusive access to most extensive archive of any Impressionist painter, and to the first major Pissarro retrospective in four decades, this film explores and highlights the enthralling and hugely important biography and output of an incredible artist.
